My Story

Hi there! My name is Monica Cliff, and I am the creative mind behind Inventiva Works. I grew up in a small town in Mexico named Zacatepec, Morelos. As a child, I remember loving art and being mesmerized by drawings, paintings, animations, comics, puppets, theater plays, costumes, sets, and props. I remember wondering, after seeing a piece of art, 'how did they do that?'. That initial curiosity took me into a journey of learning, practicing, and discovering different forms of art.

I love experimenting with all kinds of media and materials when I make an art piece! But overall, I love the art of storytelling and visual arts.

After a few years of art classes, I decided to study Scenography, where I learned to design Sets, Costumes, Props, Puppets, and Lighting.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Scenogrsaphy from the National Institute of Fine Arts Center, National Theater School of Mexico, and a master’s degree in Social Innovation and Sustainability Leadership from Edgewood College.

My art studio is located in Madison, Wisconsin.

About Inventiva Works

Inventiva is the Spanish word for inventive, as an artist, I practice re-inventing what I know, and I give a new meaning to my work.

The beautiful thing about being an artist is that there are no rules but new approaches to telling your story.

This website features my creative works, classes and workshops I teach, and the blog explores the creative process of different art projects.

With this site, I hope to connect with a community who enjoy art, and inspire others, just like I have been inspired by other artist's works.
